Arne Cherkoss is our star associate attorney in the firm. Arne is one of the best attorneys we have ever had in getting cases settled for top dollar, without the need for litigation. Having worked for insurance companies in the past, Arne has a unique perspective as to how insurance companies evaluate cases, and he uses that knowledge to our advantage. Arne represents the injured in a wide range of cases, including car crashes, whiplash injuries, neck and back injuries, orthopedic injuries, neurologic injuries, surgical cases, death cases, and other catastrophic injury cases. If Arne cannot settle a case for a reasonable value, he is quick to turn the file over to our primary litigation attorney, Tim Williams. Even if the case is turned over to Tim, Arne still stays involved in handling the case, and goes to trial with Tim if the case cannot be settled.

Arne Cherkoss was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. At age sixteen, he relocated to Arcata, California where he graduated from Arcata High School in 1989. That same year, he enrolled at Humboldt State University (also in Arcata). In 1991, Arne transferred to California State University Dominguez Hills, in Southern California. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with Honors, in 1993.

Rather than going directly to graduate school, Arne chose to pursue his dream of being a touring recording artist. From 1994 through 2000, Arne spent his time writing music and playing with his two bands. During that time, he recorded numerous CDs, toured the United States seven times, and went on a six week European tour.

In 2000, Arne was accepted to the University of Oregon School Of Law in Eugene, Oregon. He received his JD in 2003. While attending the U of O, Arne volunteered at Lane County Legal Aid, where he represented low income clients in civil disputes. Arne also worked for the University as a Student Defender, representing students in administrative disciplinary hearings. During his last semester of law school, Arne served as a law clerk for Lane County Circuit Court judge, Lyle Velure.

In 2003, Arne was admitted to the Oregon State Bar and was hired by Frohnmayer Deatherage, a premier Southern Oregon law firm. While at Frohnmayer, Arne’s practice focused on Insurance Defense, Professional Liability, and Family Law.

In 2007, Arne’s friend and law school classmate, Tim Williams, offered him a job and the chance to live in Bend, Oregon. In May 2007, Arne began working with Tim Williams and Roy Dwyer. The focus of his practice is statewide personal injury litigation. Arne’s prior insurance defense work gives him a unique perspective on his cases, which he uses to his clients’ advantage.

Arne’s interests include snowboarding, hiking, biking, reading, playing music and spending time with his wife Laurel (who is also an attorney) and his two Parson “Jack” Russell Terriers.
